2011 Fiesta Is A Hit
The Ford Fiesta made its debut in the US and abroad in 1976. In those days the Fiesta was just another economy car that simply underwhelmed American drivers. Although the Fiesta remained popular in Europe it did not return to American shores until this year. European road tests and continuous upgrades have completely transformed the Fiesta over the last three decades. . Before bringing the Fiesta back to The States, Ford spent plenty of time considering what appeals to American drivers. According to Ford, the Fiesta was designed to “physically engage the senses” and we Americans love that touchy feely stuff.
The Ford Motor Company has been delighted to see that the Fiesta has been well received by the mass consuming, economy seeking, American public. It could be the low price point under $13,500 or the great mpg ratings (29 city, 40 hwy) that people are responding to but it could also be the capricious look of Fiesta that has caught the public eye. The new Ford Fiest, at first glance, lookslike its relatedto the June bug, especially the models with a “Lime Squeeze Metallic” exterior color.. The teardrop body shape is lower in the front and higher in the back making the Fiesta appear as if it’s about to launch into flight. When it is coming straight toward you, the Dragon’s-eye headlamps complete its insect-like appearance. If you are not a fan of bugs, Ford is offering six additional colors which make the Fiesta look more like a car. These include; Metallic Yellow Blaze, Bright Magenta, Monterey Gray, Blue Flame, Tuxedo Black, Red Candy, Ingot Silver and a sophisticated Oxford White.
The interior of the Fiesta incorporates most of the “engaging to the senses” features cleverly designed by Ford. For starters, Ford incorporated plenty of sound deadening materials in the doors, headliner and pillars and utilized an acoustic laminated windshield to keep the interior whisper quiet. Unlike any competitor in its class the Fiesta has available luxuries such as heated front leather trimmed seats and a power moon roof. A 4” multifunctional LCD display screen for phone info, audio settings and other data is positioned in the direct line of sight with red, easy to read text. Ford loaded the Fiesta with technology as well, including their Intelligent Access push-button start ignition system and the Ford-exclusive SYNC ® system which allows hands free, voice activated communication.
Under the hood of the Fiesta lies a 1.6-liter twin-independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) Duratec ® Engine. Eliminated drag and the best fuel economy is achieved by the available PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission. . Service visits are reduced as well by the fill-for-life transmission fluid system which is designed to last up to 150,000 miles and is virtually maintenance free. An electric powered rack and pinion steering system with AdvanceTrac ® makes the Fiesta nimble and ultra responsive. Car and Driver
gave the new Ford Fiesta a high ranking in their fun-to-drive (FTD) factor and they were “thoroughly impressed with the Fiesta’s eager agility and exceptional road-holding.”
With any small vehicle, driver and passenger safety is always a concern. The new Fiesta is packed with more airbags than any other vehicle in its class. A total of seven airbags are standard for the Fiesta. Ford even included an innovative driver's knee airbag to create a cushion between the driver and the instrument panel in the event of a crash. The future looks bright for this little bug of a car which seems to have a perfect combination of compact size, compact price, smart technology and safety.

Sony Xperia S hands-on (Engadget)
We had the feeling that the Sony Xperia S might rear its lovely little head at
tonight's press conference in the Las Vegas Convention Center -- and indeed
this pretty little slab was announced amongst the deluge of products and
superstar cameos.
The Sony Xperia S is a smartphone with a bit of an identity crisis, which is
to say that there were two versions of the same handset on the showroom floor
-- one with the now oddly outdated Sony Ericsson branding along its top bezel,
just above the speaker grill and another which simply reads "Sony" in big,
block letters. And really, the new naming convention doesn't seem to out of
place on the Android 2.3 handset -- it's got a bit more room to breathe up
there. And besides, the gorgeous S looks right at home alongside Sony's other
glossy hardware.
The Xperia's bright 4.3-inch display monopolizes the upper 2/3 of the handset.
Just below this, you'll find three white dots. These line up with the home,
menu and back button. Icons for each are embedded in a a sliver of thick glass
casing. Upon seeing the handset, we found ourselves attempting ...
