Riveters - ToolsRUs
Unlike other tools such as pliers and screwdrivers that can be used for a wide variety of applications, riveters are used for one thing. They are used to affix rivets which are a type of fastener to join metal. Available in numerous sizes and grades, rivets are used in industrial works such as bridge building and aeronautics as well as for smaller, non-structural uses. Of course, depending on the application, both rivets and riveters will differ greatly. Assembling mammoth structures like ships or aircraft requires industrial-grade, structural rivets.
Joining steel plates used to be exclusively done with rivets. Nowadays, welding is the preferred method, but rivets are still used for small areas. For domestic use, riveters or rivet guns are used in craftwork, sewing and for joining pieces of metal. Like screws and nails, rivets are fasteners, but they are intended to be permanent, whereas a screw or nail can be removed. About the same size as a pair of large pliers, small household or shop riveters are useful handheld tools. Small-project riveters and rivets are inexpensive and easy to use.
It takes a single hand to operate a riveter. Swivel-head and right-angle riveters are the most common types. The tools feature handles that are spring loaded for easy use and durable steel construction. Comfortable rubber or plastic grips usually coat the handles. Handheld riveters are capable of fastening rivets made of aluminium, steel and perhaps stainless steel. For use with rivets of different sizes, these tools include several interchangeable nose pieces. The parts store neatly on the tool's handle.
Swivel-head riveters feature a handle that can rotate up to 360 degrees relative to the head. Whatever position is most comfortable for your hand, this tool allows you to do it. With their handle positioned 90 degrees to the nose, right-angle riveters do not rotate.

From the assembly of a light metal frame to piecing together body parts on a racecar, handheld riveters are useful for a variety of tasks. These tools are too small and the rivets too weak to provide structural support. For intense engineering jobs, industrial-grade rivets and riveters are necessary. Still, if you are accustomed to working with metal in your shop, a riveter is a must-have fastening tool.
broadband wallplate converter?
hi, i have a dialup (phone) wall plate jack in my wall in my room, while my friend has a hi speed ethernet one (RJ-45) in his wall. Why? does this happen when u order the house? like what type of wallplates u want? well, i mean, is there some way i can get an ethernet jack on that same wallplate too? heres another idea, which is my question. is there a converter thing i can plug into my phone jack and on the other end of the converter it has an rj45 jack? or an rj45 jack and a phone (dialup) jack? any other suggestions would help.

That Rj45 jack is connected to something somewhere - did you look in the basement for network cable? The RJ45 wallplates are only installed for the sake of hooking up a PC - you can install one yourself, but this port must be connected to a patch panel, switch, router or some piece of networking equipment to be of any use.
There's no way to "convert" a phone jack to a network jack - the physical cable that's run to that phone jack is 99% going to be for phone signal only. If you wanted to, you could run Cat-5/5e/6 cable through the walls and make a data jack, but again - there's really no use unless you're connecting that jack to some piece of networking hardware.
