People love to use VOIP ADSL phone services because it allows and make phone calls locally home with long distance much cheaper than a normal phone line. It is convenient it easy to use for most people, but not all systems work for everyone.

There are two types of services in which you use either your computer and headset or an adapter and regular telephone.
One of the ones that uses just software on your computer to make the phone calls is Skype. You must use their program that works very similar to an instant messaging program with telephone options in order to connect the phone call. The rates are very cheap per month and you are able to call any telephone number from your computer through them.
Voip.com is a popular choice and has a competitive rates. You can either make phone calls are from your computer or with a standard phone. This makes it convenient for most people to use as long as you have a working Internet connection, or in some cases your computer left on, and the phone will work as well as a traditional phone line and it offers the same quality to your phone calls as a land line or a mobile phone.
VoIP Headset question ?
I'm currently in a class using a VoIP headset, and have something happening that I really need help with. Periodically, I'll get newscasts, music and other transmissions coming through my headset while I'm in class and while my instructor's speaking. I have no other windows open that are causing this to come through. Can anyone with more experience with these please tell me where these transmissions are coming from, and most importantly, how I can stop them? Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a cheap headset. It lacks enough shielding around the cable. You are getting RFI.
Talkcast tonight 10pm ET: Reviewing the year that was (TUAW)
It's time again for the TUAW Talkcast! We'll be live on our usual TalkShoe
meeting place, podcast fates and bandwidth permitting, starting at 10 pm
Eastern time.
Given the calendar alignment this year, with both Christmas and New Year's Eve
falling on our normal Sunday chatterbox timeslot, this may be the final
regularly-scheduled talkcast of 2011; I won't rule out a show on Christmas
night, or one on a special day/time during the week of 12/26, but I think the
31st is pretty well booked up.
That means we're going to take this week to reflect and share: we'll review
the top ten stories of the year gone by (including the obvious and tragic
#1), consider what we're thankful for (and what we could have done without),
and go over our Santa-baby wishlists for Apple in 2012. We'll welcome some
special guests from The Loop and TiPB, raise a glass of good cheer, and all
that jazz.
As always, the show only gets better when we have you as a part of it! To
participate, you can use the browser-only Talkshoe client or download the
classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you ...
