Patient Room Hospital
Both Visitors and Patients Should Have Comfortable Hospital Chairs
Whether you’re a patient or a visitor to a hospital, you need appropriate seating. In addition to meeting infection control standards, you need to ensure that all hospital chairs are structurally sound and can accommodate an individual of any shape or size. That’s why you need to make sure you are thinking of both the patient and visitor in your choice of furniture.
Of course, it is not uncommon to have one chair style for your visitors and a separate one for your patients. The patient chairs you are likely to find in hospital bedrooms are going to follow a similar style, which will mean it will be high-backed and very supportive for optimum comfort. Some hospital chairs even have a form of neck support which is great for those patients that have suffered head injuries or suchlike.
The hospital visitors often get the use of smaller chair when they come to visit someone they know. You might find these chairs stacked in a store room or suchlike in another area of the hospital. These hospital chairs might be upholstered or have plastic seating so that they can be cleaned much easier.
As everyone knows, a hospital places a lot of importance on infection control and that’s why all the small things have to be taken into consideration. The seating might not seem like a massive concern, but think about the number of people that sit on them – and if a stain appears then you want to be sure that it can be removed quickly and easily.
Hospital chairs are essential for both the patient and visitor needs, but both might require different furniture styles. When you walk into a hospital you want to see furniture that isn’t shabby and all looks the same. In order to meet hospital standards, there won’t be sofas or suchlike littering the hospital rooms, as these simply aren’t practical. In the patients rooms the main focus is on support and comfort and therefore it is no surprise that hospital chairs are chosen based on this merit. People of all ages visit hospitals so the seating needs to be appropriate for all to sit down – although it has to be said that many hospitals can get frustrated with people staying there too long! Despite this, the hospital chairs do need to be comfortable.
