Why is our shower the way it is? Need plumbers advice please?
Hi, I tried to fix our shower that has been broken for years. I screwed that ring thing all the way down, I got the pressure up no problem, but it is only getting hot water not cold. I heard the sound of water gushing on the roof, I had a look and it appears that what I think is the cold water, that should be going to the shower, to feed cold water to it is going out through what appears to be a super long pole on the roof, which I always assumed was I lightning protector. Does anyone with plumbing experience know what could have caused that, and why the water is coming out through a pole on the roof, instead of out through the shower?
Shower has a single mixer unit. You slide the lever from right to left. The thing with a ring, I've looked is called a Pressure reducing valve.
Your cold water comes from a storage tank which is usually located in the attic. Check that there is water in this tank with a level just 25mm below the overflow pipe. it can be the ball valve is in the closed position and no water is filling thetank, or there is dirt in the ball valve stopping water from filling the tank.
